Caracol

Caracol is in Complexo Caldeira, in Alto Paraíso de Goiás. The approach is a dirt road, with the Chapada escarpment in the distance. The trail enters the forest, crosses a shallow stretch of river and opens onto a lookout over the valley before the falls.

Caracol waterfall

The main fall drops inside a quartzite grotto and forms a swimming pool. The water curtains down the dark rock, and the pool mixes the green of the river with the shade of the cave.

Valquíria waterfall

In the same complex, Valquíria steps down the rock into a dark pool, surrounded by forest. It is the other swim on the route.

Trail, river and lookout

The path crosses rocks in the forest and a shallow stretch of clear water. From the lookout you see the valley, the river and the ridge. The Caldeira river runs golden and clear between the trees.
